City Sticker

A valid city sticker is required for all City residents who own a vehicle. New residents and those who recently purchased a vehicle have 30 days to come into compliance. City stickers are sold through the Chicago City Clerk’s office. You can purchase your sticker at the following locations: (Note: we are not able to issue city stickers from the 46th Ward Office)

You must show proof of address and vehicle registration when purchasing a sticker in person.

Additional questions about city stickers can be found here on the Clerk’s Office Website

Residential Zone Parking

Certain streets restrict parking to neighborhood residents. Vehicles parking on these streets during specified hours are required to display a valid residential parking permit. Only residents of zoned streets and or those receiving Letters of Exception (see below) are eligible to purchase parking permits.

Click here to check if you are eligible for a residential parking permit.

If you do not live within a specified zone but meet additional criteria (including living within 4 lots of the zone) our office may grant you a Letter of Exception which if you bring printed to the Clerk’s Office will give you access to that zone.

To request a letter of exception email info@46thward.com and include the following information:

  • Name

  • Address

  • Proof of Address

  • Car Make and Model

  • License Plate Number

  • Requested Zone Number

Daily Parking Passes

Our office is able to issue the daily parking passes (sometimes also referred to as guest parking passes).

In addition to our office, you can also purchase Daily Parking Passes at:

You must already have an account with the Clerk’s Office and live in a residential zone (or have received a letter of exception that you’ve presented to the Clerk’s Office) in order for us to issue passes. If you have previously purchased a city sticker or daily passes, you should already have an account.

If you’ve recently moved and have a change in address we will need to review proof of address in the form of a lease, mortgage, or utility bill.

Cost, quantity, time limit and restrictions:

  • Each person is eligible for up to 3 sheets of stickers a month

  • Sheets includes 15 stickers

  • Each sheet costs $8

  • Stickers expire December 31st each year (regardless of purchase date)

LV2 Cubs Night Games

LV2 permits for Cubs Night parking can be obtained by residents who live within an LV2 zone or businesses in the LV2 zone. Restrictions in this zone are from 5PM-10PM on dates of all Cubs home games (including the postseason) or concerts at Wrigley Field.

Residents who have a current city vehicle sticker registered in the LV2 zone should receive the permit and a permanent guest pass in the mail (Note: in 2024, these passes will be mailed out on Friday, 3/22). In the winter before Cubs night game and concert season begin, our office will not be able to provide LV2 parking permits, as the zone will not be enforced while we wait for an updated night game and concert schedule.

Important change in 2023: The LV2 zone expanded to include parking restrictions for all Cubs Games. It previously only applied to night games.

Steps

  1. Confirm that you are eligible for LV2 passes. Residences or businesses on a block with physical LV2 signs are eligible. If you live on an adjacent block, please reach out to our office at info@46thward.com to determine your eligibility.

  2. Fill out this online application. Businesses and residents can apply for LV2 parking using this application.

  3. Pick up your free permit at our office at the 46th Ward office, 4544 N. Broadway during office hours (9-5 M-Th, 9-3 M-F, closed each day 12-1pm)

Residential Move “No Parking” Signs

As a courtesy to constituents, the 46th Ward Office offers residential move “No Parking” signs to assist in the loading and unloading of moving trucks. The signs are designated for a four-hour period only. These are non-enforceable, courtesy signs.

The office recommends posting the signs 48 hours in advance of the move date and time to allow neighbors to take note of the signage and move their cars if necessary.

To request a sign email info@46thward.com and include the following information:

  • Date of Move

  • Time of Move (4 hour window)

  • Address of Move (where signs will be posted)
