Speed Bumps
Speed bumps can be installed on a residential street or in an alley. Speed bumps help slow down traffic, making the street safer for all that use it.
The 46th Ward office requires an engagement process in order to install speed bumps. If a resident reaches out to request speed bumps, 46th Ward staff will create an online survey and flyer with a link to the survey. The resident is responsible for posting the flyer on all residences on the block and in the public way (lightpoles, etc.). The survey will be open for two weeks.
If at least 60% of the respondents support the speed humps, our office will move forward with the Chicago Department of Transportation to determine feasibility, details, and installation.
If you are interested in adding speed bumps to your residential block, please reach out to our office at info@46thward.com or 773-878-4646.
